癲癇の薬（Epilepsy medicine）

癲癇発作を防ぐお薬です。また、躁病の治療や、片頭痛の予防にも用います。

This is a medicine to prevent epileptic seizures. It is also used as a treatment for mania and migraines.

1.  【診察で】肝臓の悪い人など持病のある人、またアレルギーのある人は医師に伝えておきましょう。
   1. (During consultation): Please tell your doctor if you have any chronic diseases, allergies or liver problems.
2. 【注意する人】重い肝臓病や尿素サイクル異常症のある人は使用できません。また、妊娠中は基本的には使用しません。
   1. Warning/Contraindications: People with severe liver diseases or urea cycle disorder must not take this medicine. It is also not recommended to take during pregnancy.
3. 【用法】：通常、1日量バルプロ酸ナトリウムとして400～1200mgを1日2～3回に分けて経口服用する。ただし、年齢、症状に応じ適宜増減する。
   1. Usage: The typical dose of sodium valproate is to take orally from 400 to 1200 mg daily, dividing the dose in 2 or 3 times per day. However, this dose can increase or decrease according to the age or symptoms of the patient.
4. 【食生活】：眠気を催したり、注意力・集中力・反射運動能力が低下することがあります。車の運転など危険な作業は避けてください。
   1. Diet and Lifestyle: It might provoke drowsiness, and reduce levels of attention, concentration ability and reflexes. Please avoid dangerous activities such as driving a vehicle or heavy machinery.
5. 【副作用】副作用でわりと多いのは、眠気、ふらつき、吐き気、食欲不振、けん怠感などです。
   1. Side effects: Secondary effects with large occurrences include, drowsiness, lightheadedness, nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, etc.
